Dr. Alya Gaspard

I am a clinical psychologist at Old Town Psychology. I aim to create a collaborative and supportive environment where my clients feel safe being vulnerable. By integrating both supportive and insight-oriented techniques, my goal is to provide my clients with a better understanding of their self-perception, interpersonal patterns, and psychological functioning. I incorporate other evidence-based approaches, including CBT, ACT, and client-centered techniques, depending on what my clients need. I also focus on the impact of my clients’ multiple intersecting identities on their presenting concerns by integrating a multicultural approach in therapy. I provide both individual therapy and couples counseling.

I received my PsyD from the George Washington University. I have experience working with a diverse population of college students and adults with depression, anxiety, PTSD, identity development concerns, as well as personality and interpersonal difficulties. I have a particular interest in working with individuals who experience various challenges, including mood disorders such as anxiety, identity development and life transitions, relational concerns, and trauma. I also conduct psychological and cognitive assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.

I value providing a warm and trusting environment where clients develop a better understanding of themselves and their difficulties, as well as exploring the role of their past experiences, family dynamics, and identity or trauma in their current functioning. I work to tailor my approach to the unique and individualized needs of my clients. We’ll work together to set goals that are important to you. Being in therapy can be a challenging experience, but I look forward to being part of your path to growth, healing, and self-awareness as you navigate life.
